Community healthcare can be a surprisingly dynamic and fulfilling career, something Safiya Riley discovered almost by accident. After spending four years training as a dietitian, Safiya began to question whether hospital ward work was right for her. During a COVID-19 placement, the fast-paced acute environment left her feeling uncertain. Although she finished her degree and applied for hospital roles, she knew her heart wasn’t in them. Then she spotted a Food Project Officer role at CLCH.

Returning to practice offers experienced clinicians the chance to bring their skills back to the NHS with confidence. At CLCH, the Return to Practice (RtP) pathway supports Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered allied health professionals to refresh their knowledge, rebuild confidence and successfully regain registration. CLCH recognises that returners bring valuable experience and provides structured supervision, flexible routes and practical support throughout the process.
