Reflections on Child Safety week from Associate Director of Safeguarding at CLCH, Trish Stewart

Published: 13th June 2022

“It’s important that we always keep child safety on the agenda – Child Safety Week, which ran from 6th-12th June, has been an opportunity to focus on the prevention of harm and accidents and we chose safe sleeping as we head into summer with advice from our partners The Lullaby Trust.  All contacts with parents before and after their baby is born count and provide an opportunity to re-enforce safe sleeping messages.

“It was great to see such a good turn-out from staff across the Trust at a webinar we ran on Tuesday exploring safer sleeping and get staff  feedback. CLCH works across a large area of London and Hertfordshire and so we remain focused on ensuring our services are sensitive and tailored to meet the needs and expectations of all our communities.

"We are planning to run more ‘lunch and learn’ webinars during the CLCH Safeguarding Children week, which runs from 20th – 24th June.  During the week we will consider the findings from national and local reviews and Neal Gething, Practitioner Psychologist at CLCH will speak about avoiding ‘compassion fatigue’ when working with complex and challenging cases.

“ Ensuring our children are safe is everyone’s responsibility and together through our partnerships we can make a difference”
