Work Experience and Healthcare Careers Support

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust offers work experience placements to help young people and adult learners explore careers in community healthcare. These opportunities give valuable insight into NHS professions and help build the skills and knowledge of our future workforce.

Most of our applicants are young people seeking work experience to shadow professionals and gain insight into the working world. We also welcome individuals further along in their education or careers who are exploring a future within the NHS.

We currently offer placements between 1-5 days in duration in clinical and non-clinical settings. All applications are assessed through a shortlisting process based on the strength of the application and the applicant’s suitability for the placement.

Examples of teams offering placements include:

  • Dentistry
  • Nursing (rehabilitation wards)
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Orthoptics
  • Care Homes
  • Dietetics
  • Business Support
  • Quality Improvement

You can also find out more about these roles and more using the NHS A-Z of Careers and Healthcare Careers websites.  A group line-up of clinical CLCH staff

The King's Trust

CLCH has newly partnered with The King's Trust to expand our Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Summer School Programme for 2026 with a stronger focus on helping young people gain the skills, experience and opportunities they need to move into healthcare careers.

The programme takes on 25 students each year giving hands-on experience of NHS roles and hopes to open doors to paid employment, apprenticeships and internships. This year, the focus is on Podiatry and Speech and Language Therapy.

The King's Trust are leading on the application process internally in 2026 directly with state schools in line with the CLCH commitment as an anchor organisation in 14 London Boroughs and Hertfordshire.
