LGBTQ+ History Month - Championing inclusion

Published: 4th March 2024

As the curtain falls on LGBTQ+ History Month, let's meet Andrea Erdos, a newly appointed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) officer at CLCH. Andrea's personal story weaves together resilience, advocacy, and the pursuit of equality.

Hello, I’m Andrea, CLCH's new EDI officer. Before this position, I was a Senior Administrator at CLCH for 15 years. I have also been a Trade Union representative at CLCH since February 2017.

I am passionate about all areas of equality, especially countering discrimination, but also, from a personal perspective, on the topic of disability, as I am a disabled person myself. I was co-chair of DAWN between 2019 and 2022.

Now, as EDI officer, I work towards  promoting an inclusive culture that helps everyone, including people with protected characteristics,  to have better experiences at work.

I am a firm ally of LGBTQ+ people. I believe that celebrating LGBTQ+ Month is important in acknowledging the struggles and discrimination that this community has faced and continues to experience both in the past and the present-day.

Celebrating and understanding LGBTQ+ identities is important for fairness and inclusion. Recognising and supporting diverse sexual orientations and gender identities helps us create a more welcoming society. Learning about LGBTQ+ history and struggles helps break down stereotypes and biases, making spaces safer for everyone to be themselves without fear.

Embracing diversity in sexual orientations and gender identities helps dismantle discriminatory attitudes and biases, promoting a culture of equality, where everyone's individuality is respected. This contributes to a more accepting world where everyone can thrive, and diversity is celebrated.
