Patient stories and press coverage for Pembridge

Busy week in the spotlight for Palliative care centre

Our Pembridge Palliative Care Centre based at the St Charles Centre has had a week to remember after the launch of their first patient video story and a full page feature in the local press.

Henrietta's video story captures a very moving tale of a lady that moved from the Caribbean in the 60s. She spent most of her life around the Portobello Road area and recounts amazing detail of the social history attached to it. Henrietta is now a day-care patient at the Pembridge, and talks about the quality of care that she has received there.

There is also a feature in this week's Chronicle series (p.10) about day-to-day goings on at the Pembridge. The full page article looks at the different kinds of activities that take place there, such as Therapaws and Interact sessions, and also has interviews with staff and patients.

The Chronicle series have versions to cover Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster and the Pembridge feature is in all three.

Cathy Saraby, senior nurse manager at the Pembridge said:

"We're really pleased with both of these bits of work as they help explain what palliative care involves and how much our patients value the service they receive here. All of our staff at the Pembridge work so hard and show great compassion every day so I'm very happy to see it reflected in Henrietta's story and in the quotes from the patients in the newspaper feature".
