In October 2017 FNP turned 10 which marked:

•    The 1,000,000th FNP visit

•    The 30,000th FNP baby born

•    The 950th family nurse trained

•    The 200th supervisor trained

The celebrations kicked off with a parliamentary reception where FNP clients old and new, nurses, supervisors and friends of FNP met in Parliament to celebrate the achievements from the last decade and look ahead to the future. We heard from ministers, the chief nurse, an FNP supervisor, FNP Director, Ailsa Swarbrick  as well as one of FNP's first clients, Fateha Begum. Sharing her inspirational story, Fateha was joined on stage by her eight year old son Hamza to explain just how much her family nurse, Sharon, had impacted on not just her life, but that of her other children and her friends and family.

CLCH is now the largest provider of the FNP service within the UK, covering five boroughs from January 2018.

The Merton and Tri-borough FNP teams hosted separate events at the Acacia children's centre, Mitcham and The Masbro in Hammersmith & Fulham to mark this event.

Client, babies, fathers and extended family joined us along with other stakeholders including school nursing and health visiting, CBU managers and representatives from the CCG.

The events were well attended and were able to tell their stories in an informal manner  over lunch whilst stakeholders explained their roles within the 0-19 sectors.

Activities included:

  • Canvas family hand prints
  • Christmas decoration making
  • Healthy eating stations
  • Oral health awareness with free toothbrushes, paste and sip cups handed out
  • Contraception awareness and condom distribution station.
