We all know the issue of rising energy costs has been the talk of the town. One of our key sustainability objectives is to enhance energy efficiency across our sites to reduce costs as well as carbon emissions.

One way to achieve this is to improve building insulation. Over the last few months works have taken place to add additional insulation to the roofs of the Parsons Green Health Centre and Langley House sites.

Inenco Energy Ltd, the energy and sustainability consultancy, estimated that these works will reduce carbon emissions by 11 tonnes of carbon dioxide at Langley House and seven tonnes of carbon dioxide at Parsons Green with total annual savings of around £5,000. The insulation should also make the buildings warmer in winter.

The project was assigned to a contractor, Surecast Ltd who successfully completed the installation of flat roof insulation at the Parsons Green and pitched roof insulation at Langley House in Hertfordshire.

Tom Wright, Director of Sustainability said: “Insulating buildings is a really important part of environmental sustainability. It is fantastic these works have been completed and we now look forward to doing the same at other Trust buildings. The insulation works also complement our future plans to install heat pumps to replace gas boilers.”
