Light up a Life - a short film

Published: 11th December 2020

Our Pembridge Hospice team have produced a short film for their annual Light up a Life remembrance event.

Every December, the team invite former patients’ family and friends to join them in person to celebrate the lives of people they have lost. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event could not take place this year, but the team wanted to record this short film to let families know we are still thinking of them.

As part of the event, people sponsor custom engraved wooden stars bearing the names of loved ones and personal messages. They also send in dedications for the permanent book of remembrance kept at the hospice.

The video shows the team coming together to hang these stars on Christmas trees before they are sent out for families to hang up at home.

The video also shows some of the ways our Pembridge Hospice team have responded during the pandemic, to try and maintain quality of life for people with a life-limiting illness. This includes massage therapists sending aromatherapy kits to help relieve anxiety and aid in sleep, custom art packs sent to people at home and video exercise sessions to maintain mobility.

You can visit www.pembridgehospice.org/life to watch the short film, read more about the event and sponsor a custom engraved star in support of the work of the hospice.
