Happy International Women's Day

Published: 8th March 2024

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) to recognise the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all over the world. This year’s theme is 'Inspire Inclusion'. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

Nicola Kemp, Chief Medical Officer and Executive Sponsor of the Women's Network said:

"As we look to forward to celebrating International Womens Day I find myself reflecting on how it’s theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’ serves both as a reminder of the strides we've made towards gender equality and inclusion, yet also makes us contemplate the ongoing journey ahead.

International Women's Day is not just about celebrating the achievements of women; it's about recognising the value they bring to society, about how we are creating pathways for ALL women to thrive and succeed, whatever their background, ethnicity, religion, or orientation, and about ensuring we consider the intersectionality of women's experiences as we go about doing so.

So, as we celebrate International Women's Day, alongside honouring the past, let’s also look to empower the present and inspire the future towards understanding how we can, together, create a more just, inclusive, and equitable world for all women."
