Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) is holding a one day dementia conference on Thursday 23 July.

The event is being held in celebration of three CLCH continuing care nursing homes, Garside House, Athlone House and Princess Louise Kensington (PLK), who have transformed the environment of care and living for people with dementia through the introduction of Namaste Care (funded by the Burdett Trust).

The PLK care home has introduced a sensory garden, sensory room and staging posts (funded by the Secretary of State'sCapital Programme to Improve the Environment for those Living with Dementia) to improve the home's environment and provide dementia patients with more compassionate and multisensory care.

There will be two identical seminars taking place in the morning and afternoon, which will be facilitated by Andy Bradley, founder of Frameworks 4 Change. We will be hearing directly from Joyce Simard - world leading expert on Namaste Care who is joining us from the USA, Barbara Stephens - former CEO of Dementia UK who is now breaking new ground as the founder of Dementia Pathfinders and from leaders at CLCH whose stories of success in the face of adversity give grounds for both hope and practical action.

The seminars will give those attending the opportunity to learn more about the positive experience of Namaste Care, as well as the chance to discuss the ways  in which responses to those living with dementia can be evolved, so all are included and valued until the end of their lives.

Attendees will also have time to engage with the CLCH dementia champions programme and to explore how changes to dementia care can best be spread amongst local health and social care services.

The morning seminar begins at 9am and ends at 12:30pm and the afternoon session will run from 1.30pm to 5pm. Attendees from both sessions are invited to attend the networking lunch at 12.30pm. Please note both sessions are identical so participants need only attend one.

The conference will be held at 10 Greycoat Place, London SW1P 1SB. To book your place on one of the seminars please visit the Frameworks 4 Change website here.
