We recently welcomed Marsha de Cordova MP for Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth to our Sexual Health Clinic at 160 Falcon Road.

During the visit, Marsha, Labour MP met with our nurses, consultants, and service and operational leads to gain an overview of our sexual, contraception, and reproductive health services, as well as the care and initiatives supporting our community’s health needs, including outcomes from the latest CQC report.

The team outlined essential services that meet patients’ needs, including STI diagnosis and management, HIV and hepatitis testing and counselling, emergency and routine contraception, and care for patients with complex needs. In addition, tailored care plans, treatment, preventive interventions, and education are provided to help patients make informed decisions about their sexual health and wellbeing.

This engagement formed part of a broader discussion about how our sexual health services are adapting to meet growing demand, improving outreach, and addressing health inequalities. Marsha also heard about the team’s ongoing efforts to continue improving patient experience and ensure that vulnerable and underserved groups are supported effectively.

Staff met with the MP to highlight national challenges affecting healthcare and their ongoing work to maintain delivering high standards of care to our patients and service users. The discussion underscored the vital role of our sexual health clinic in promoting public health and ensuring access to essential advice and services. Marsha was engaged and showed strong interest in the work of the team, helping to lay the groundwork for future support to ensure the service continues to deliver confidential, inclusive and high-quality care to the local community.

Nicola Boyle, Head of Clinical Services for Public Health Services for Wandsworth sexual health said: "We were delighted to welcome Marsha De Cordova MP to our Sexual Health Service. Her visit offered an opportunity to highlight the dedication of our staff and the high-quality, patient-centred care we provide. We also welcomed the chance to discuss our work, the challenges our patients face, and our ongoing commitment to improving access, outcomes, and support for local residents."

Marsha de Cordova, Labour MP for Battersea, Balham and Wandsworth said: “It was great to visit the CLCH sexual health clinic and hear more about what's available to people in south west London. Sexual health clinics provide important medical clinics, but they also do so much more. They are often the first point of contact for victims of sexual assault and domestic abuse within the community, highlighting why we must work to protect this vital NHS service."
