Celebrating International Women’s Day at CLCH

Published: 7th March 2025

Imagine a gender-equal world - one free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where differences are valued and celebrated. At CLCH, we are committed to establishing gender equality, and International Women’s Day (IWD) provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on progress and reaffirm our dedication to positive change.

International Women’s Day has been marked for over a century, yet many of the challenges impacting women's advancement remain. Since 1911, IWD has belonged to all who care about gender equality. While we are celebrating IWD today, the official date falls on Saturday, 8 March 2025.

At CLCH, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of women across our organisation. We encourage everyone to take part in raising awareness, challenging discrimination, and actively supporting gender equality in all aspects of life.

A message from the Chief Medical Officer and the Executive Sponsor of the Women's Network, Nicola Kemp:

"On International Women’s Day, we celebrate women's achievements, resilience, and contributions in healthcare and beyond. This year’s theme of ‘Accelerate Action’ emphasises the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality and calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.

"It reminds us of the ongoing commitment we must all make to ensure equity, inclusion, and opportunity for women in every aspect of our society. With women making up the majority of our CLCH workforce (81%), this is particularly pertinent to us.

"As Executive Lead for the Women’s Network, I am proud to stand alongside colleagues in championing gender equity. I am committed to fostering an environment where women are empowered to thrive, innovate and lead.  Please join the Women’s Network if you would like to join the conversation.

"Today is not just a celebration - it is a call to action. Let us recognise the incredible contributions of women in healthcare and beyond, challenge biases, and work towards a future where opportunity knows no gender.

"To all the women in our organisation and the wider community - thank you for your unwavering dedication and compassion. Your work changes lives each day, and we are all the better for it.

"Happy International Women’s Day!"
