Published: 1st September 2022

A new shared procurement service for NHS partner organisations in North West London launches today, to deliver increased value from procurement services and support the development of new commercial opportunities across the sector.

North West London (NWL) Procurement Services will provide a single shared service for nine NHS partner organisations. The service, which today brings together in-house procurement teams from across the sector, will be hosted centrally by Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) and governed by a Board consisting of Chief Financial Officer representatives from each organisation.

The new shared service will enable partner organisations to increase efficiency, deliver more from supply partners and improve the overall service experience for stakeholders, staff and patients. The nine partner organisations are:

  • Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH)
  • Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL)
  • Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (CWHT)
  • The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (THHT)
  • Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT)
  • London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH)
  • North West London Integrated Care Board (NWL ICB)
  • The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust (RMT)
  • West London NHS Trust (WLT)

NWL Procurement Services will provide partners in the sector with support for procurement and materials management, as well as the management of outsourced contracts.

Lee Jackson, Managing Director for NWL Procurement Services, said: “The establishment of a shared procurement service for North West London represents a fantastic opportunity to integrate with our partners to provide a high-quality service in line with the development of a centralised commercial function for the NHS.

“It arrives at a crucial time when we are seeing a growing demand for NHS services to support clinical colleagues and teams to provide the highest standards of patient care.

“NWL Procurement Services will help to achieve this by delivering incredible value and outstanding customer experience, and I look forward to working with partners over the coming months as we start to realise the benefits that the new shared service will provide.”

James Benson, Interim Chief Executive at CLCH, said: “I’m incredibly pleased that CLCH will be a part of NWL Procurement Services, providing us with the opportunity to identify and share best practice with our NHS partners both in North West London and nationally.

“As the central host organisation for the shared service, I am delighted to have welcomed procurement colleagues from across the sector to CLCH today. As one team, they can now pool their deep knowledge and understanding of the opportunities we have to increase efficiency and deliver best value, so that ultimately, we can improve services for our patients and for the health of our communities.”
