Sharing five key principles of infection prevention
International Infection Prevention Week (19-25 October) highlights the vital role that infection prevention and control (IPC) plays in keeping patients, staff, and communities safe.
Since its launch in 1986, International Infection Prevention Week has encouraged healthcare professionals around the world to take action to reduce the spread of infections and improve patient safety.
This year, CLCH’s infection, prevention and control team is raising awareness through a short new video showcasing five key principles of infection prevention - simple steps that help protect everyone in our care. These include effective hand hygiene, using personal protective equipment appropriately, keeping environments clean, following good respiratory hygiene, and handling specimens safely.
Speaking about the week, the infection, prevention and control team said: "Every member of staff plays a part in preventing infection. These simple, consistent actions protect patients and colleagues every day. International Infection Prevention Week is a great reminder that prevention really is protection."
By combining education, creativity, and collaboration, CLCH is helping to ensure infection prevention remains everyone’s responsibility, and continues to make healthcare safer for all.
