HIV tests are a fairly rapid and simple process.  In our video, Steven Reynolds, lead sexual health adviser for sexual health and HIV medicine at Sexual Health Hertfordshire talks us through the process whilst demonstrating an HIV test.

Steven explains, "This is a rapid test which will give us the results within a minute and can be carried out within three months of last having sex.  There are three possible outcomes of the test; positive, negative and unclear. In the case of a positive or unclear result, the test will be repeated by drawing a blood sample from the arm which will then be sent to the hospital lab for testing."
