Celebrating International Day of Families

Published: 15th May 2024

Today is International Day of Families – an annual event established by the UN with the aim of highlighting the importance of families and raising awareness of the social, economic and demographic issues effecting them globally.

Families are our communities and they are central to the care we provide through many of our services at CLCH. Here is a snapshot of just some of our teams:

0-19 - supporting babies, children and young people to get the best start in life, ensuring they are ready to learn at 2 and ready for school at 5. This includes antenatal support for vulnerable pregnant women, health visitors for homeless families and mothers who need additional support with perinatal mental health

Early start healthy weight - helping parents and children to achieve and maintain healthy weight through promoting healthy eating and physical activity

Sexual health – providing free, confidential family planning and sexual health services for women and men of all ages

District nurses -  supporting and encouraging people with disabilities and long-term conditions to recover their health, cope with health problems, and achieve the best possible quality of independent life

Diabetes – helping patients control their diabetes and reduce the risk of short and long term complications by providing patients with the skills, knowledge and confidence to self-manage their diabetes effectively

Musculoskeletal - a specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment service run by highly skilled, specialist physiotherapists

Dentistry -  working in communities to prevent and treat dental and oral disease, correct dental irregularities and treat dental injuries.

Community healthcare services help improve the health and wellbeing of families at every stage of their lives and so we proud to join the worldwide celebrations for International Day of Families.
