CLCH is accredited with the National Multi-profession Preceptorship Quality Mark
CLCH is delighted to have achieved the National Multi-profession Preceptorship Quality Mark, awarded by NHS England. Preceptorship is a 12-month process to support our new to register, or newly qualified clinical staff inclusive of nurses and AHPs.
This process supports our staff in their transitional phases, which is often the most vulnerable time in their careers. Therefore, supporting staff well-being and retention.
Martin Hogan, Lead for Professional Nurse Advocates, Preceptorship and Clinical Supervision said:
"We are collectively very proud of this achievement!"
Preceptorship at CLCH is a structured support programme designed to guide newly qualified nurses through their transition into clinical practice. It pairs preceptees with experienced preceptors and buddies, offering both professional mentorship and pastoral care. This nurturing environment fosters confidence, competence, and a sense of belonging, helping new staff integrate smoothly into their teams.
A preceptee shared what they had learnt on the programme:
“I found the Action Learning session very interesting and a great space to offload and reflect.”
Preceptees benefit from tailored guidance, improved clinical skills, and emotional support, which collectively enhance patient care and staff retention across the Trust. Since 2022, thanks to the programme, the number of newly qualified nurses and allied health professional leaving the trust has continued to fall.
