Foundation Trust position

Published: 2nd September 2019

The Trust started its Foundation Trust (FT) journey in 2012; as part of authorisation preparation a membership of more than 8000 was recruited.  However, the FT process was suspended in January 2016 and since this time there has been a national pause in the FT programme and the single oversight framework (SOF) has been introduced.

Given that there has been no change to the national position in the past 3 years and because staff have expressed some confusion whether CLCH is still seeking FT status, the Board committed to making the position clear and in July 2019, took a decision to formally cease to be an aspirant foundation trust.

This means that the Trust is no longer be able to retain the membership database which will be deleted.

We hope to assure you, however, that this decision will have no detrimental impact on the Trust’s commitment to engaging its staff and the communities served through our staff engagement and patient engagement plans.

On behalf of the Board, the Trust Chair has written to thank every member for their commitment to being involved with the Trust, particularly those who have regularly and loyally helped us in shaping and developing our services.  We are grateful for your contribution and hope that we can encourage everyone to remain involved.

We remain committed to engaging and involving the people in our communities.  If you would like to continue to be informed of future patient experience events and engagement activities please contact the patient advice and liaison team on freephone 0800 368 0412 (0900-1700 hours) or by email on clchpals@nhs.net
