Update on Coronavirus - 31st January 2020
The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed that as of today (31 January), two members of the same family in the North of England have tested positive for novel coronavirus (2019-nCov). If more cases are confirmed in the UK, it will be announced as soon as possible by the Chief Medical Officer of the affected country.
Based on current evidence, the coronavirus presents with flu-like symptoms including a fever, a cough, or difficulty breathing. The current evidence is that most cases appear to be mild. Those who have died in Wuhan, where the coronavirus originated, appear to have had pre-existing health conditions.
As a healthcare provider, CLCH is following the national directive from Public Health England, which details the actions our staff should take in the event of any suspected cases amongst our patient groups.
