Celebrating Black History Month 2025: Reflecting, learning and inspiring

Published: 3rd November 2025

As Black History Month 2025 comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate the conversations and events that have taken place across the Trust throughout October. This year’s theme encouraged us to reflect on the power of resilience, representation and opportunity - and to recognise the incredible diversity that makes our Trust such a vibrant place to work.

A highlight of the month includes a video featuring Jummy Dawudo, Director of Operations Corporate, and Kemi Adenubi, Non-Executive Director. In this honest and inspiring discussion, they shared their personal journeys, spoke about the importance of resilience in overcoming challenges, and offered valuable advice on career progression.

Across the Trust, teams came together to mark Black History Month with a range of celebratory events, from cultural showcases and learning sessions to shared lunches and local displays. These events gave staff the chance to learn from one another and continue building an inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong.

Shelley Heffernan, Head of Clinical Service, Merton Children Services, South West Division said:

"Thanks all, brilliant BHM event in South West Division , I am always so impressed and touched by how wonderful colleagues are in SW, amazing to see everyone so engaged and celebrating together"

Jeremy Caducoy, Practice Development Nurse, INW Division said:

"Thank you to everyone who joined us in honouring Black history, culture, and excellence. Together, we continue to stand firm in power, pride, and unity across Westminster."

Jo Dang, Locality Lead, Community Nursing Services, INW Division:

"I would like to thank Charlie and Andy for taking time out of their very busy schedules to attend. We do not take this for granted and we appreciate you both. It was well attended by all teams. We look forward to celebrating more moments as a team."

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Black History Month such a success - whether by attending an event, sharing your story, or simply taking time to listen and learn. Together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive CLCH where every voice matters.
