Sexual Health South West London launches

Published: 3rd October 2017
From October Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust is providing new sexual health services across Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth.

The services offer free and confidential advice, testing and treatment across the full range of contraception and sexually transmitted infections. There are six clinics across the three boroughs offering appointments six days a week including Saturday mornings.

A full list of the clinics and booking details are available on https://shswl.nhs.uk/. The booking line is open Monday to Friday 8am-8pm on 0333 300 2100.

The new services are part of an award winning London sexual health transformation programme that is a unique collaboration of 29 London Boroughs transforming the way sexual health services are organised and provided.

Dr Joanne Medhurst, Medical Director at CLCH, said: "We're really pleased to be taking on sexual health in Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth; and look forward to working with the local councils and the doctors, nurses and support staff of the services to deliver the best care to local people.

"We'll be making more booked appointments available so people don't have to sit and wait for hours in busy walk-in clinics. We'll also be launching online booking later in the year. And in 2018, we'll be linking to a new London-wide online service to provide self-testing kits for people wishing to screen for sexual infections such as HIV, gonorrhoea and Chlamydia without needing to come into a clinic."

For young people, the service will include a free condom scheme and Chlamydia screening online plus targeted outreach work in Wandsworth to support our most vulnerable residents.

The service will provide HIV test and post sexual exposure treatment, plus a support and advice service for HIV positive people in Wandsworth. Clinical support for people with HIV will continue to be provided by local hospitals.
