Interim chair arrangements for West London NHS Trust and Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust

Published: 22nd February 2023

Following a recent joint recruitment process that did not result in an appointment, West London NHS Trust (WLT) and Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) have announced interim arrangements for their respective boards.

WLHT have appointed current vice-chair Elizabeth Rantzen to succeed outgoing Chair Tom Hayhoe on an interim basis from 1 April 2023. CLCH’s current chair Angela Greatley will continue in her role, with her term extended until 30 September 2023. Both chairs will work with the new chair of Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Tom Kibasi, to further develop the North West London community and mental health collaboratives.

Elizabeth has been a non-executive director of the WLHT for 10 years having joined the board in 2013, after eight years on the boards of Hammersmith and Fulham, and then North West London, Primary Care Trusts.

Her experience spans public, private and non-profit sectors.  She was chief executive of a major grant-making trust for a number of years, having previously been director of business development at a City law firm and chief executive of a set of barristers’ chambers. She also spent 12 years as a panel member at London Central Employment Tribunal. Elizabeth currently chairs the Trust’s finance & performance committee and the charitable funds committee.

Elizabeth commented:

“I’m very pleased to be taking over as the interim Chair of this trust, having witnessed first-hand the progress the organisation has made over the last decade.

“I’d like to acknowledge the work of our outgoing Chair, Tom Hayhoe, and thank him for his 8 years of outstanding leadership and service. Like Tom, I’m a proud long-term resident of West London, and I look forward to leading the Trust through the next chapter.”

Elizabeth’s other commitments include roles as an independent member of the parole board, a panel chair of fitness-to-practice committees at the General Dental Council and a number of charity trusteeships.

Angela was appointed chair of CLCH in 2016. She has board leadership experience across various sectors and was previously chair at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. Her successful executive career includes roles as chief executive of the charity Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health and as director of commissioning in a London Health Authority. She was awarded an OBE in the 2012 Birthday Honours list for services to mental health.

Angela commented:

“I am incredibly proud to be chair of CLCH, leading an organisation that plays a vital role in providing care for people in the community.

“Alongside our partners, we will continue to strengthen integration across the areas in which we work, so that collectively we can provide the best quality care for patients, families and residents in North West London.”

Penny Dash, Chair of North West London Integrated Care Board said: “We welcome these temporary arrangements as we look at how we can continue to progress integration of services to the benefit of patients and service users within mental health and community care. I look forward to working with Elizabeth and Angela to move this agenda forward.”
