Teams across CLCH support Sexual Health Week 2022
Our sexual health and Single Point of Access (SPA) teams across Hertfordshire and London have joined the annual national campaign organised by Brook, a wellbeing charity, the theme of which this year is ‘Breaking Barriers’ and addressing inequities in sexual health.
CLCH's Sexual Health services in London and Hertfordshire include face-to-face appointments as well as online services to help local residents receive the help they need as quickly and easily as possible.
The dedicated websites for sexual health services in South West London and Hertfordshire assist individuals in locating pertinent information, emergency contraception, order PrEP and PEP medicines to prevent HIV and ordering home testing kits for sexually transmitted infections. The website also features an easy-to-read section and a variety of languages.
Everyone should be able to access sexual health and wellbeing services in ways that is most convenient for them. Research suggests that too many people face barriers when it comes to finding evidence based, inclusive and non-judgmental support. Teams from both divisions work with local communities to ensure that sexual health is treated as seriously as other health needs, removing any stigma associated with sexual health and dedicating more time to support patients.
In addition, recognition of sexual health week lines up with our Promoting Equality and Tacking Inequality Strategy. It is particularly covered by the Access to Services campaign, one of four key campaigns that form the strategy.
Commenting about the service, Sarah Kipps (Clinical Lead for Sexual Health, South West London) said: “When you work in sexual health no day is the same. Every day bring new challenges. It is a very special experience to work within a team who positively welcome and value patients, however they present and whomever they love.”
Gill Miles (Interim CBU Manager for Sexual Health, Hertfordshire) commented: “Sexual Health Week is a great opportunity for us to promote awareness of the obstacles that individuals may experience. We are here to support communities by providing guidance and screening, as well as answering any questions they may have regarding access to sexual health services.”
