Warm spaces

We are launching warm spaces across Barnet from 1 February 2023. These spaces are available to help people who are struggling to keep warm this winter, due to the cost of living crisis.

We are providing a warm and welcoming space for residents to engage with people in their community, a friendly ear to listen and teas and coffees will be available. These spaces will be available from 2pm-5pm on the following days:

Grahame Park, The Concourse, London NW9 5XT – Monday and Tuesday

Edgware Community Hospital, Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware HA8 0AD – Wednesday and Friday

Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Rd, London N12 0JE – Thursday

Boost provides personalised benefit advice, skills, and employment services to Barnet residents. This support includes a dedicated team to helping residents get back on their feet, and includes services such as CV writing, interview workshops and weekly updates on new jobs and apprenticeship opportunities.

Council Tax and Housing Benefits

Support services for residents having difficulties paying Council Tax. Housing benefits that are available to help pay your rent low income and not eligible for Universal Credit.

This supports residents who need emergency financial assistance due to unexpected circumstances, as well as urgent support to get back on your feet after prison or after a stay in hospital.

Free childcare and early education

Residents receiving qualifying benefits, two-year old children can access 15 hours of early education for free each week. There are also benefits available for three- and four-year-olds.

During the winter months, pensioners will be entitled to receive between £100-£300 to help with paying heating bills.
