Request
As part of a project to estimate national NHS use and costs for supportive pessaries for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or stress urinary incontinence (SUI), I am contacting a small, representative sample of NHS Trusts to gather high-level information. This request concerns supportive (not drug-delivery or other) pessaries.
For each of the financial years 2022/23, 2023/24, and 2024/25 to date, could you please provide:
Core Data (Priority):
- Total spend by your Trust on supportive pessary devices for POP and SUI.
- Number of supportive pessary devices purchased and/or issued (please specify).
- Number of patients seen for supportive pessary fitting, review, or management.
- Any estimate of the total annual cost of delivering supportive pessary treatment (excluding device costs) - e.g., via internal costings or NHS tariffs.Additional Data (if readily available):
- Number of pessary-related clinic sessions or appointments provided per year (please specify).
- Trust catchment size and annual gynaecology patient volumes.
- Any information about supportive pessary provision in community or primary care, if not included above.
Response
Thank you for your request about supportive pessaries for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
Following reasonable searches and confirmation from our divisional clinical leads and Finance, Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) does not hold the information you requested. CLCH provides community services and does not purchase, issue or fit supportive pessaries within our services. Where supportive pessaries are used for patients in our areas, these are typically prescribed/managed in primary care by GP practices (commissioned by the ICB) and/or by acute hospital gynaecology services.
Accordingly, under section 1(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the information you have requested is not held by CLCH
