Sleep advice

Your baby/child’s sleep plays an important part in their development. It is common for toddlers and young children to experience sleep difficulties and this can become a source of stress for tired parents and carers. Here you can find information on how much sleep your child needs, common sleep problems and how to help your child sleep better.

You can also speak to your health visiting team for advice on sleep.

As soon as your baby’s teeth start to come through it’s time to start brushing them. This will help your baby to get used to brushing their teeth and helps avoid them having problems with their teeth as they get older. It’s important to brush your child’s teeth for them until they are at least 7 years old to make sure they are thoroughly cleaned.

It’s also important to start taking them to the dentist when you go so that the dentist can look at their teeth and they get used to going to the dentist.

Here are some helpful resources on how to look after your baby/child’s teeth and how to access a dentist.

If you would like more information or advice about any of these topics you can contact your local health visiting team.
