Unity in Diversity: Celebrating South Asian Heritage Month at CLCH

South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) is a time to recognise, celebrate and learn about the history, cultures and contributions of South Asian communities in the UK and beyond. This year SAHM is celebrated from 1 to 31 July 2026.

This year’s theme, “Unity in Diversity,” celebrates the many cultures, languages, traditions and experiences that make up the South Asian community, while recognising the values and connections that bring people together.

South Asia is made up of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Each country has its own unique history, customs and traditions, making the region rich in diversity.

To celebrate South Asian Heritage Month at CLCH, we asked colleagues from across the Trust, including both clinical and corporate teams, to share their thoughts on what “Unity in Diversity” means to them and how their South Asian heritage has influenced the way they support patients and colleagues.
