Easter: The resurrection of Jesus
Easter is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian calendar. It marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which Christians believe took place three days after his crucifixion on Good Friday. For many, Easter is a time of hope, renewal and reflection.

The period leading up to Easter, known as Lent, is often observed through prayer, fasting or giving up certain comforts. It is a time to reflect on faith and prepare for the celebration of Easter Sunday. Churches hold special services throughout Holy Week, including Good Friday and Easter Sunday, which are often attended by families and communities.
For Christians, Easter represents new life and the promise of hope. It is a reminder of overcoming challenges and looking forward with faith. Many people celebrate by attending church services, spending time with loved ones and taking part in traditions such as sharing meals or Easter eggs.
Robert Brushfield Hodges, Analyst, Quality Improvement team shares his personal reflection as a practicing Christian, highlighting the deep meaning Easter holds for him:

“The events that lead up to and the Crucifixion of Jesus fulfils Old Testament prophecies and validates Jesus’ claims to be the Son of God and the promised Messiah. Easter is not merely a historical event but a living reality that offers forgiveness, redemption, and the promise of eternal life to all who believe in Him. It calls believers to renew their faith, live in the power of the resurrected Christ, and share the good news of salvation with the world.”
Aramide Adegbenla, Community Matron shares:

“Easter is a really special time for me and my family. We attend church together on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and it gives us a chance to pause and reflect on our faith. It’s also a time to reconnect, share a meal and appreciate the sense of hope that Easter brings.”
Jacqueline Djonga, Community Nurse Team Lead added:

“For me, Easter is about quiet reflection and gratitude. I usually spend time in prayer during the week leading up to Easter and attend a local church service on Sunday. It’s a time that helps me reset and think about what really matters.”
